Wapello County farmers produce over 32,000 swine per year and the 10-county region produced 644,521 hogs in 2004. Cargill Meat Solutions Excel plant in Ottumwa processes over 3 million hogs per year. Iowa produces 2 billion bushels of corn per year and the 10-county region produced 100.6 million bushels in 2004.
